A City Dog’s Guide to Glasgow

Glasgow is a pretty easy city to explore with a dog. You’ve got some of the best parks in the city within walking distance of good coffee, brunch spots and dog-friendly pubs, so you can make a full day of it without really having to plan much.

Here's a few of our favourites.

PARKS

Kelvingrove Park

If you’re in the West End, Kelvingrove is always a good shout. There’s loads of open space, paths along the River Kelvin and plenty of routes to choose from depending on how long you want to walk.

You can keep going along the Kelvin Walkway if you want to stretch it out, or loop back through the park and stop at Inn Deep for a drink afterwards.

Rouken Glen Park

Rouken Glen is one of our favourites in the Southside, especially when you want a longer walk without heading out of the city. There’s a mix of woodland, open parkland and waterfalls, with loads of different paths to explore.

You can stop at the Boathouse for something to eat while you’re there, or grab a takeaway coffee or ice cream to take with you on the walk.

Pollok Country Park

Pollok Country Park is massive, so it’s a good one when you’ve got a couple of hours and want a proper wander. There are woodland trails, open fields and plenty of different routes through the park.

The Burrell Collection is right in the middle of it too, so we usually head that way and stop for a coffee and something baked before carrying on. You’ll probably spot the Highland cows while you’re there, but give them plenty of space if you have the dog with you.

BRUNCH

Bramble

Bramble is a good one if you’re looking for something a little different from the standard brunch menu. The portions are generous, the staff are lovely and the Korean fried chicken waffles are definitely worth ordering. Their pancakes are really good too.

It gets busy at weekends, so it’s worth heading over a little earlier if you can.

Kudos Cafe

Kudos is a great local spot for coffee and brunch, with a menu that changes regularly. The Sexy Vodka Sando is one of the standouts, along with their hash browns, and they usually have a few seasonal specials on too.

Cafe Strange Brew

Strange Brew is one of those Glasgow brunch spots that’s nearly always busy, but for good reason. The portions are huge, the coffee is great and there’s a really good mix of options on the menu.

The Stornoway Stack is probably their best-known dish, while the pancakes are another favourite. They also have a good selection of vegetarian and gluten-free options.

PUBS

Kelvingrove Café

Kelvingrove Café is a great West End option when you want somewhere dog friendly that still feels nice enough for dinner or cocktails.

It’s cosy inside with dark wood and leather seating, and cocktails are a big part of the menu. They serve food and smaller plates too, so it works well for a drink after a walk or somewhere to stay a little longer.

Lebowskis

Lebowskis is known for its White Russians, with more than 30 different versions on the menu. There are plenty of other cocktails and local beers too, alongside burgers, wings, hot dogs and smaller plates.

It’s also genuinely dog friendly. Staff are known to bring over water and treats, so your dog will be well looked after while you work your way through the White Russian menu.

Inn Deep

Inn Deep is in a pretty ideal spot if you’ve been walking around Kelvingrove. It sits under the railway arches right beside the River Kelvin, with an outdoor terrace overlooking the water.

They specialise in craft beer and serve food too, so it’s an easy place to stop before heading home. If the weather’s good, get a table outside by the river.
